First Trimester Of Pregnancy
Pregnancy lasts almost nine months and it is divided in three phases: the first trimester of pregnancy, the second and the third one. They are also called weeks of amenorrhea.

The conception takes place after 2-3 weeks from the last day of trim, this day is considered the first day of pregnancy, so you have to remember when the last trim started in order to establish the approximate date of birth. The zygote starts growing immediately and it has the measure of a pin when it travels the road through the Fallopian tube in order to get to the uterus. The zygote (which becomes blastocyst) is implanted into the uterine wall (some women can observe spots on the underwear) and it is quickly divided. There are primordiums for eyes, ears, the nervous system and the heart, for the head, neck and members. In the cervical tube it is formed a mucus plug which has the role to “seal” the cervix in order to prevent the infections.

During the first trimester of pregnancy after a gynecologic examination the uterus is soft and globulous, the cervical glera is missing and the cervix presents a violaceous color. These are signs (which are getting more accentuated in time) that can lead (after almost 8 weeks of amenorrhea) to the pregnancy diagnostic. The pregnancy can be confirmed before 8 weeks by using in the correct way a pregnancy test (which is available in pharmacies). After 5 weeks of amenorrhea you can observe the embryo sac during an echography. The embryo has 2-3 millimeters length and it is deeper implanted in the uterine wall. Around the embryo we have the amniotic sac which has the role to protect the embryo. The term is missing even if you have the sensation that you must have it. You should have breasts pain and also headaches.

After 6 weeks we can see the embryo and determine where the pregnancy is located. From now on you can feel that you are pregnant and you can notice the changes of your body: you feel tired because of the metabolism which has an accelerated rhythm in order to manage the modifications within your body. The uterus grows and pushes on the urinary bladder. Even if the embryo is still little, the 4 rooms of the heart are accentuated and the hearts has 180 beatings per minute. It appears the neural tube in which the baby’s brain will develop and the spinal cord, too.

After 7 weeks the doctor is able to discover the cardiac activity of the foetus. The brain continues to develop and the head is enormous comparing with the rest of the body. After 8 weeks the doctors can confirm the case of a multiple pregnancy (the presence of more than one embryo can be discovered).

During the first trimester of pregnancy, the uterus grows in volume step by step. After the second month, it can grow 4 centimeters in height each month.

You can describe sleep disorder (for example insomnia, somnolence accession), weird abdominal sensations, digestive disorders, you could get easily nervous. You can also gain or lose weight, dependant on the way that the foetus is developing.

In order to born a healthy baby, the future mother must consult a doctor who will analyze the pregnancy development and will do everything to avoid any complications.
